About
I'm Hugo — a software engineer working mostly on backend systems: APIs, queues, caching, and the plumbing that keeps them honest.
This blog is deliberately simple. Articles are Markdown files in a Git repository; publishing is a commit. My tooling can generate and prepare content, but Markdown is the contract — if I abandon the tooling tomorrow, everything here still works.
What you'll find
- Articles — things I learned by breaking them first.
- Projects — what I'm building, with timelines and decisions.
- Notes — reading and learning logs, unpolished on purpose.
How I work
Ideas from ch. 36 of a book I keep coming back to, and which describe the environment I try to build: accept difficult coworkers and make allies of them, stay confident and curious, be as helpful as possible, and keep drama out — don't encourage it, don't acknowledge it.
